The interior renovation of main floor of the iconic SaskPower Head Office reflects a desire to create an open, inviting space for staff, customers, and the public. Completed in Spring 2023, the final design pays tribute to the original design of Joseph Pettick using French curves and organic lines to create dynamic and flexible space to support an engaging client experience.

The project involved the infill of the former drive-thru, uniting the main floor and creating a large, cohesive space designed for gathering. This intervention is celebrated with a dynamic baffle ceiling highlighting the natural flow through the space and providing passive way-finding. The beautiful heritage tile work was repaired and is now a key design feature in the space along with a contemporary nod to the original ‘Prairie Ice’ ceiling panels that formed the original 1960s ceilings. A map of Saskatchewan created out of moss showcases the deep ties to the province, and welcome signage in the many languages spoken by SaskPower customers greets visitors as they arrive at the building.

Rather than static displays, educational moments from the history of the Crown Corporation are built into the space and multi-coloured glass insulators suspended in front of the curtainwall create a beautiful art wall created from the company’s legacy.
