In June of 2012, the University of Regina commissioned pmgm architecture ltd. in association with Brian Saunders Architect, to design a 608-bed student residence building. This is the first of four on the northeast quadrant of the campus that will form the major student residence core of the campus.
The project includes a 150-car underground parking garage, a 90-space child daycare space with associated playground, and student services administrative offices on the main floor. The building is zoned with two 14-floor high-rise towers, a 5-storey link between the towers, and a 5-storey wing off each tower. In the fold of the building is a landscaped pedestrian quad that will become a component of a larger landscape connection between this building and the future residences. This landscaped area is constructed as a green roof over the deck of the underground parking.
