Bayer CropScience Canada commissioned pmgm architecture ltd. to design an addition to their existing storage warehouse. This addition provided much needed space for Bayer to store agricultural chemicals prior to them being shipped to main distribution centers throughout Canada. The addition also includes offices for Logistics Controllers and a lounge and shower rooms for semi drivers that transport the chemicals.
Due to the volatile nature of agriculture chemicals, the addition had to be separated into three separate spaces with 4-hour firewalls and explosion-proof fixtures and equipment were installed throughout. Adjacent existing railroad tracks resulted with the building being stepped to maintain the required clearances. The completion of the addition allowed Bayer to expand their packing and filling facility in the main building which supported their strategy moving forward.
